How to cancel Basic-Fit: the steps and the notice period

Cancelling Basic-Fit is free, online or in the club. What sets your end date is the 4-week notice period and the minimum duration of your contract.

Cancelling Basic-Fit takes two minutes. Knowing when the charges actually stop takes a little more care, because two rules apply at the same time: the minimum duration of your contract and a 4-week notice period.

This guide follows the conditions Basic-Fit publishes, checked on 27 September 2026 on its Belgian and French pages.

In short

  • Cancelling is free, online through My Basic-Fit or at the orange kiosk in any club.
  • The notice period is 4 weeks, counted from your next billing date, not from the day you cancel.
  • The contract never ends before its minimum duration: 4 weeks or 52 weeks, depending on your membership.
  • Your exact end date appears in your My Basic-Fit profile once the request is made.
  • Signed up online less than 14 days ago? The right of withdrawal is a separate procedure, and often a better one.

How do you cancel Basic-Fit, step by step?

Basic-Fit offers two official channels, both free.

Online, through My Basic-Fit

  1. Log in on my.basic-fit.com or in the Basic-Fit app.
  2. Open the cancellation page. The direct link is my.basic-fit.com/cancel-membership.
  3. Confirm the request.
  4. Go back to your profile and write down the contract end date shown there. That date is the one that counts, not your own calculation.

In the club, at the self-service kiosk

In any club, the orange self-service kiosk does the same thing. Useful if you no longer have access to your online account.

What about services that offer to cancel for you?

Basic-Fit says it on its own cancellation page: it does not work with these third parties, and they may charge you a fee. For something that is free when you do it directly, there is no reason to pay anyone.

When do the charges actually stop?

That is the real question, and the answer depends on two conditions that apply together.

The minimum contract duration. Depending on your membership, it is 4 weeks or 52 weeks. Until it has run out, the contract continues, cancelled or not.

The 4-week notice period. It does not start on the day you ask. It starts on your next billing date.

Basic-Fit sums up the consequence this way: direct debits only stop once the notice period, or the minimum contract duration, has expired.

A worked example

Take a membership with no commitment left, billed every 4 weeks, with the next billing date on 10 October.

  • You cancel on 3 October.
  • The notice period starts on 10 October, your next billing date.
  • It runs for 4 weeks, until 7 November.
  • So expect one last charge on 10 October, covering the period up to the end of the notice.

The practical consequence: cancelling on 3 October or on 9 October gives the same end date. What matters is doing it before the billing date. Leave yourself a few days of margin rather than cancelling the day before.

If you are still within your first 52 weeks of commitment, the end date cannot fall before that year is over. The notice period overlaps it; it does not shorten anything.

What if I signed up less than 14 days ago?

Then do not cancel: withdraw. It is not the same procedure.

According to Basic-Fit Belgium’s right of withdrawal page:

  • you have 14 days from the day you signed up;
  • the right applies to a membership taken out remotely, online. It does not apply to a membership taken out in the club;
  • you withdraw by email to customer service (service.clientele@basic-fit.be in Belgium), by post, or with the model form attached to the terms and conditions. It cannot be done at the kiosk in the club;
  • if you have not used the membership during those 14 days, withdrawing is free. If you have, Basic-Fit may keep part of the amount on a pro rata basis;
  • the refund arrives no later than 14 days after your request is received, on the original payment method.

Does the Flex option change anything?

It changes the minimum duration, not the notice period.

According to Basic-Fit’s Flex option page (in French), it costs €9.99 extra every 4 weeks and removes the one-year minimum commitment: you can cancel from the start of your contract. The 4-week notice period stays the same.

If you are weighing a membership with commitment against the Flex option, work it out over the time you actually expect to train. Over thirteen 4-week periods, the option adds up to €129.87.

Changed your mind after cancelling?

You can undo a cancellation in My Basic-Fit, as long as your contract has not reached its end date. Once that date has passed, it can no longer be reversed.

Frequently asked questions

Does it cost anything to cancel Basic-Fit? No. Cancelling is free online and at the kiosk in the club. Only third-party intermediaries may charge a fee.

Can I cancel Basic-Fit by phone? Basic-Fit points to two channels: My Basic-Fit and the kiosk in the club. Use one of them; both give you an end date you can see right away in your profile.

I cancelled today. Why am I still being charged? Because the 4-week notice period starts on your next billing date. A last charge on that date is normal. If there is one after the end date shown in your profile, contact customer service with a screenshot of that date.

Where do I find my contract end date? In your My Basic-Fit profile, once the cancellation is recorded.

Are the rules the same in Belgium and France? The Belgian and French cancellation pages list the same channels, the same minimum durations and the same notice period. Only the withdrawal contact details differ. The terms and conditions for your country remain the reference.

Where ABONEA helps, and where it stops

This guide helps you cancel. The hard part comes earlier: remembering the billing date at the right moment, and knowing whether the membership is still worth it.

That is what ABONEA does. You add Basic-Fit to your subscriptions, the app keeps the next charge date and the cancellation steps side by side, and a 1 to 5 rating brings out what you pay for without using.

And what ABONEA does not do:

  • it does not connect to any bank account;
  • it does not read your inbox;
  • it does not cancel anything on your behalf. It warns you, you decide, you cancel yourself, for free.

The web version is open at web.abonea.app. The mobile apps are coming soon, and you can be notified when they launch from abonea.app.
